Virtual Library Card

What is a Virtual Library Card?

WKB ZUL enables the use of resources of all Lublin university libraries with a single card. Thanks to the initiative Association of Lublin Universities (ZUL), the academic community can draw knowledge from a wide range of library resources.

How to use the Virtual Library Card?

The Virtual Library Card (VBC) project is addressed to students, PhD students and employees of Lublin universities participating in the VBC Project.

The card allows free use of the resources of the following libraries:

  • Main Library of the Medical University of Lublin
  • Library of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin
  • Main Library of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin
  • The Centre for Scientific and Technical Information of the Lublin University of Technology
  • University Library of the Catholic University of Lublin
 
Procedure for using collections within WKB:
  • The user declares their willingness to participate in the Virtual Library Card project at the home library of the University.
  • The user accepts the Project Regulations and is entered into the online database of the Virtual Library Card.
  • The user reports to the Library of the WBK Partner University whose collections he or she is interested in.
  • The librarian verifies the authorizations in the common database and sets up an individual library account in the local library system and records this fact in the WBK system.
  • WKB users are bound by the regulations of the Library from which the books are borrowed.
  • In the event that the User holds an item, the price list of each Partner Libraries applies.

Virtual Library Card Regulations

Preamble

Working for the development of the academic community in Lublin, the Lublin University of Technology, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, the Medical University of Lublin, the University of Life Sciences in Lublin associated with the Union of Lublin Universities and the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin are launching a project called VIRTUAL LIBRARY CARD, the aim of which is to strengthen the synergy effect of our universities.

Chapter I
General provisions

§1

The Virtual Library Card (hereinafter referred to as the Virtual Library Card) is created by public higher education institutions with scientific libraries located within the administrative boundaries of the City of Lublin, which are signatories Agreements on the establishment and definition of the principles of cooperation of the Virtual Library Card, to which these Rules are an annex. WKB was established to provide the academic community of Lublin with wide access to library resources, in particular through mutual lending of printed collections to students, doctoral students and employees of institutions that have signed Agreement, hereinafter referred to as the Agreement Partners. 

Chapter II
User WKB

§2

  1. WKB users are:
    1. students of the first, second and third cycle of studies and doctoral students of doctoral schools run by the Agreement Partners;
    2. employees of the Agreement Partners employed under an employment contract.
  2. The document entitling you to borrow collections within the WKB, i.e. to register with the WKB and later participate in the project is:
    1. Student ID (LS);
    2. Electronic Student ID (ELS);
    3. Doctoral Student ID (LD);
    4. Electronic Doctoral Student ID (ELD);
    5. A certificate of employment issued by the relevant entity of the Agreement Partner (University) and an identity card or Electronic Employee ID (ELP).
  3. The user has the right to have one account within WKB.
  4. The User is not entitled to share his/her WKB account with other persons.
  5. Lending collections within WKB takes place after the user registers in the WKB Application.
  6. A user who wishes to use WKB should contact the main library of their university, hereinafter referred to as the Home Library. A condition for registering a user in the WKB Application is a current library account in the Home Library.
  7. User accounts in the WKB Application are created and deleted only by the Home Library.
  8. A user account in the WKB Application created in a given academic year is valid until October 31 of the following academic year, with the account expiring upon loss of student or employment status.
  9. After the account validity period has passed, it is deleted and the user can re-create the account for the next academic year after the authorizations have been verified by an employee of the Home Library.
  10. The user's account may be deleted at his request (sent via e-mail to the following address: biuro@4zul.pl), provided that the user settles accounts with all libraries, which is confirmed by receiving a stamped clearance slip.
  11. The user's personal data is automatically deleted from the WKB Application after three months from the date of account expiry and settlement with all Libraries, which is confirmed by a clearance slip.

 

Chapter III
Lending collections

§3

  1. A WKB user acquires the right to borrow collections from a selected WKB library upon personally completing all formalities required by the regulations of a given library.
  2. Collections in individual WKB libraries are loaned in accordance with the provisions contained in the regulations for providing access to the collections of these libraries.

 

Chapter IV
Rights and obligations of the WKB User

§4

  1. The WKB user is obliged to:
    1. knowledge of and compliance with these Principles and the Regulations and Rules for Sharing Library Collections of individual Partners of the Agreement.
    2. personal settlement of the reader's account set up in the local database (in the local library system) of each WKB library from which he/she has borrowed collections, at the time of resigning from using WKB or settling the accounts with his/her own university.
  2. The WKB user is entitled to:
    1. borrowing collections from all WKB libraries that have created a reader account for him in their local library systems, in accordance with the principles adopted in the regulations for making the collections of these libraries available;
    2. to submit to your Home Library requests for changes to the WKB rules;
    3. access to your personal data processed in connection with the operation of WKB;
    4. resignation from participation in the WKB Application, which is equivalent to deleting the user's data from the WKB Libraries' systems, except for the Home Library. The Home Library deletes personal data based on a request submitted by the WKB user in writing and after obtaining confirmation of no arrears towards the WKB Libraries (circulation).

 

Chapter V
Protection of personal data

§5

  1. The administrator of the personal data of the WKB user is his or her home university.
  2. The co-administrators of the WKB user's personal data are the other signatories of the Agreement on the establishment and definition of the principles of cooperation of the Virtual Library Card
  3. Detailed information on the processing of personal data can be found in the "downloads" tab on the website www.4zul.pl and in paper form, in each Home Library.

 

Chapter VI
Final provisions

§6

  1. To matters not regulated in these Regulations, the provisions of the regulations for making the collections of individual WKB libraries available and the order regulations in force therein shall apply.
  2. The Office of the Union of Lublin Universities has the right to interpret these regulations and to introduce any exceptions thereto.
