Computer terminals for the visually and hearing impaired

The Main Library of the Medical University has created 2 computer stations for the visually and hearing impaired – in the General Reading Room (ground floor) and the Computer Lab of the Scientific Information Department (1st floor). Both rooms are accessible by elevator.

The computers are equipped with a special keyboard for the visually impaired, specialist screen magnification software ZoomText Magnifier/Reader 10 and the IVONA speech synthesizer, which enables visually and hearing impaired people to fully and freely use the resources on a computer running the Windows 7/10 operating system.

IVONA Reader is a versatile Polish-language computer speech synthesizer that allows you to read and listen to texts from any documents and applications.

If necessary, you can ask the librarian on duty to borrow headphones.

For the visually impaired, two Candy Lifestyle electronic magnifiers are also available. You can ask the librarian in the General Reading Room for them.

Candy magnifiers allow you to display enlarged text in color modes that are friendly to people with visual impairments. Practical stands and a handle make using the magnifier not tiring for the reader.
